HSE Director Projects & Operations
Do you want to lead the development of a proactive HSE culture that drives industry-leading performance?
Are you a strategic and hands-on leader who thrives at the intersection of safety, operations, and complex project execution? Bulk Infrastructure is seeking an HSE Director to define and lead our company-wide Health, Safety, and Environment strategy across both project and operational environments at our largest Campus.
At Bulk, our mission is to build sustainable infrastructure that supports the digital society of tomorrow. As one of the leading providers of sustainable, high-performance data center solutions in the Nordics, we design and operate infrastructure that powers the digital economy: efficiently, securely, and using 100% renewable energy.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in embedding HSE principles across every phase of our business – from design and construction to live operations. Based at our largest campus in Kristiansand, you will lead a dedicated HSE team and work closely with colleagues across functions to ensure safety excellence, regulatory compliance, and a strong culture of accountability.
As our HSE Director, you will:
- Define and implement a holistic HSE strategy that integrates design, construction, and operations across all Bulk sites
- Set company-wide HSE standards, governance frameworks, and performance metrics aligned with international best practices and regulatory requirements
- Lead and develop an experienced HSE team, fostering capability, engagement, and continuous improvement
- Partner with Project Directors, Site Managers, and Operations leaders to ensure HSE ownership and readiness from early-stage design through handover
- Drive cultural change and safety leadership across all levels of the organisation through active visibility, targeted communication, and consistent coaching
- Lead HSE reporting, audits, and KPI tracking, providing clear performance insights to executive management
- Act as the primary point of contact for all HSE matters with internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and external partners
Who are you?
You are a confident, structured, and visible leader who brings both strategic insight and practical experience from the field. You operate with integrity and clarity, balancing long-term perspective with the ability to act decisively when needed. You thrive in dynamic environments, build trust through consistency, and are passionate about creating a culture where safety and sustainability go hand in hand.
What you bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
• Recognized HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent
• 15+ years of progressive HSE experience across both construction and operations
• Proven success leading HSE in large-scale, multi-phase infrastructure or industrial projects
• Strong knowledge of international standards including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
• Experience developing and implementing HSE governance frameworks and culture-improvement programs
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
• Fluency in Norwegian and English with strong reporting and documentation capabilities
