Lead Cost Controller
Do you want to shape the financial backbone of large-scale projects?
Are you passionate about bringing clarity and control to complex project finances? As our Lead Cost Controller, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding decisions, optimizing costs, and ensuring financial discipline across high-impact projects. You will define scalable frameworks, tools, and reporting structures that enable senior leadership to make data-driven decisions and proactively manage financial risks.
This is a high-visibility, strategic role where your expertise will elevate cost management capabilities across the organization. Reporting to the PMO and leading cost controllers within the projects, you’ll act as the backbone of financial governance while also building and maturing our cost control methodology, systems, and ways of working. As this area is still developing within the company, your ability to establish structure, drive adoption, and improve processes will be critical to our long-term success.
As Lead Cost Controller you will:
- Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost baselines in collaboration with the PMO and project teams.
- Track actual costs versus budgets, report variances, and provide proactive insights to support project and portfolio decisions.
- Assess and document the cost impact of scope changes, variations, and risks, ensuring accurate and timely forecast updates.
- Oversee contract and procurement costs, validating supplier invoices and monitoring financial commitments.
- Support cash flow forecasting, contingency tracking, and cost risk analysis across projects and the portfolio.
- Ensure consistency and integrity of financial data across cost control tools, ERP systems, and PMO reporting formats.
- Lead the development and implementation of scalable cost control frameworks, templates, and governance structures, ensuring consistent practices across projects and the PMO.
- Drive the selection, configuration, and adoption of cost control systems and digital tools, and ensure continuous improvement of processes and reporting to support reliable, data-driven project delivery.
Who are you?
You are analytical, pragmatic, and a systems thinker who connects financial strategy with project execution. You influence senior stakeholders and guide teams through project details. Calm under pressure, meticulous with data, and collaborative by nature, you thrive on enabling project success through robust cost control, effective reporting, and sound financial governance.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, and project cost control practices.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial/project management systems.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project cost control, project accounting, or financial planning in a project-based organization.
- Experience supporting multiple stakeholders and project types concurrently.
- Experience developing or improving cost management systems, processes, or methodologies is a strong advantage.
- Fluency in English with strong reporting capabilities.
It would also be beneficial if you have:
- Certification or training in project controls, cost engineering, or project management.
- Familiarity with infrastructure or capital projects, including planning and procurement cycles.
- Background in infrastructure, construction, or data center projects.
- Experience working within or alongside a PMO structure.
